[Prior Post] Strawberry Ice Cream

Tofu Cookery

Lucky for us, the main ingredient in this frozen treat is strawberries! It also has sweetener, tofu, vanilla extract, and almond milk. Topped with Soyatoo and a strawberry. :) I made a cherry one as well, which Rich preferred over the strawberry. The ice cream gets firmer in the freezer; this is right out of the ice cream maker. I made quite a few ice creams when I got my wisdom teeth out in April.

I have always been intimidated by the ice cream makers. Is it time consuming and/or difficult? What is Soyatoo? It looks great, whatever it is. And the "ice cream" is mouth-watering. I'd be all for the strawberry flavour myself...

When you have already cool/almost frozen ingredients, it's really easy. You just keep your ice cream maker base in the freezer all the time, so it's ready to go. The items you put into it need to be very cold, probably put in the freezer for a couple hours. But if you use frozen fruit, that helps and you can put it in right away. Then it just takes 20-40 min. to make and you're done! Eat some and put the rest in the freezer for the next day. :)

Soyatoo is a commercial whipped cream available in a can from health food stores.

I've been trying to convince hubby to get an ice cream maker. With the price of commercial soy ice cream, I don't see how he can't be sold on the idea. Maybe your food porn will be just the thing I need to win my case!
